A dense, medium-sized evergreen shrub with an erect habit, with glossy, elliptic leaves to 10cm in length, bright red when young, later dark green. Clusters of creamy-white flowers appear in spring if left unpruned.

This low-maintenance, fast growing shrub is a great choice for hedging, and can reach up to 4 meters in height and 4 meters in width once fully established. The red shoots in Spring add a contrasting, pretty pop of colour against the deep green hedging. Photinia Red Robin also has less known pests than other hedging choices.

Grow in fertile, humus-rich soil in sun or partial shade. Most cultivars may be pruned hard in spring to regenerate if necessary. If growing as a hedge trim two or three times during the growing season to main shape and encourage new red foliage.
